Why the Need for CCSA?

Without organizations like CCSA, relationships between the community and their law enforcement members are relegated to crime and suspicion-related encounters, further contributing to the long-standing divide between the law and the public of our nation. Community initiatives with CCSA create a platform of participation, connection and awareness within the community, which channels positive experiences into future relationships between the law and the public they are entrusted to protect.

Community Needs

Particularly in underserved communities, the relationship between members and the police can be mired in distrust, lack of understanding and empathy, and standoffish, dangerous encounters. This lack of interconnection all but guarantees continuance of the harsh realities plaguing underserved communities across America, where the youth are far more likely to end up in trouble with the law and become statistics in an epidemic of violence.

Why Sports is a Great Catalyst for Change

Sports lets us take it and leave it all on the court or field, where a catharsis of physical activity invites team spirit, friendly competition and a building of relations hard to come by otherwise. When we play together, it becomes natural to let down our guard and break barriers, find connection in the little things, and see possibilities previously invisible.

Furthermore

Research shows that improved relations between communities and their law enforcement leads to a reduction of crime, incarceration, police shootings, police brutality and community violence as well as a heightened level of success among local youth, investment in public infrastructure and commercial development, and a sense of safety for both the public and the law enforcement.
